National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS)

Founded in 2003 as a non-profit trade association, NAPBS® serves to represent the interest of companies offering tenant, employment and background screening. NAPBS® offers an opportunity for qualified companies to participate in shaping the body of knowledge and regulations impacting our futures.

NAPBS® gives the screening industry the ability to effectively demonstrate its competence, reliability and willingness to adopt standards.

NAPBS® is the best means to associate those companies able and willing to conform to standards and to meet the highest expectations of our clients and law-makers. NAPBS® has adopted By-Laws, a Code of Conduct, and a Mission Statement.

Mission

The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) exists to promote ethical business practices, promote compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and foster awareness of issues related to consumer protection and privacy rights within the background screening industry.

The Association provides relevant programs and training aimed at empowering members to better serve clients and to maintain standards of excellence in the background screening industry.

BBB’s mission is to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust. BBB accomplishes this mission by:

Creating a community of trustworthy businesses
Setting standards for marketplace trust
Encouraging and supporting best practices
Celebrating marketplace role models, and;
Denouncing substandard marketplace behavior

BBB sees trust as a function of two primary factors – integrity and performance. Integrity includes respect, ethics and intent. Performance speaks to a business’s track record of delivering results in accordance with BBB standards and/or addressing customer concerns in a timely, satisfactory manner.

BBB ensures that high standards for trust are set and maintained. We exist so consumers and businesses alike have an unbiased source to guide them on matters of trust. We provide educational information and expert advice that is free of charge and easily accessible.

BBB Accreditation is an honor – and not every company is eligible. Businesses that meet our high standards are invited to join BBB. Businesses meeting BBB standards are presented to local Boards of Directors (or designees) for review and acceptance as a BBB Accredited Business. North Carolina Association of Private Investigators

Our History

The North Carolina Association of Private Investigators, Inc. was chartered in 1987 and is the oldest association of Private Investigators in the State. NCAPI is a non profit Corporation.

Our Mission

To support and defend the Constitutions of the United States and the State of North Carolina
To promote and foster the enforcement of law and order
To improve the individual proficiency of our members in the performance of their duties
To promote and improve the image of Private Investigators with the public and law enforcement.
To promote and encourage social, charitable, and educational activities and opportunities among Private Investigators
To advocate and strive for uniform application of the rules and regulations of the Private Protective Services Board
To apply to the Private Protective Services Board for changes and improvements in the regulation of Private Investigators
To create a tradition of Esprit de Corps insuring fidelity to duty under all conditions and circumstances; to promote and maintain the highest ethical practices and standards in the profession of Private Investigator
To perpetuate a spirit of cooperation among its members and with all those engaged in law enforcement
To further establish a mutual trust, goodwill, honesty, and friendship among professionals throughout the State of North Carolina and the United States
